Counselling and Guidance
SADeaf supports students in the
mainstream schools with hearing loss by working in partnership
with families, schools and the community. For deaf adults in the
community, we cater to the needs of clients such as coping with
family issues, parenting skills and other assistance.
Financial Assistance
SADeaf provides financial
assistance to needy clients and families in areas such as
hearing aids and other related financial issues.
Information and Referral
Sadeaf provides information and
advice on appropriate resources available in the community and
provides referral when necessary.
Job Seeking Service
SADeaf
provides clients with career guidance, and counselling to equip
them to be more marketable to find a job.
Learning Support
Students receive one-to-one
learning intervention, working on various learning developments
focusing on language development, mathematical concepts and
thinking skills.
Communication Programme
The services include
speech-language assessment and intervention, enhancing and
equipping clients in listening skills, articulation, language,
comprehension and pre-requisites for educational learning.
Tuition
Tuition programmes are run weekly
by volunteers from the National Technological University Welfare
Services Club Regular Service Project for the Hearing-Impaired (NTUWSC
RSPHI) at SADeaf and Clementi Student Service Centre. Activities
are occasionally organized for deaf students to develop other
skills and foster better interactions among them and the tutors.
Chinese Language Course
These series of courses are
provided by volunteers from NTUWSC RSPHI and is open to deaf
participants aged 16 and above. It aims to enable the Deaf to
appreciate and apply simple Chinese Language in their daily
lives.
Adult Outreach Programme (AOP)
AOP provides basic training to
deaf adults ranging from 20 to 50 years old who had little or no
education. They are taught independent living skills, social
etiquette, basic English and Arithmetic. Exposure to the social
environment is often acquired through outings and year-end
parties.
Social Club
Activities are organized to
encourage single deaf persons to socialize and develop
meaningful friendships and relationships. Outings and activities
serves as interacting platforms in friendly and cosy
environment. |
